Welcome Seminar Spring 2026

23 January 2026

ICES welcomed international exchange students for the Spring semester 2026 on January 8th and 9th.

Some students had already attended the Fall semester  2025, but the majority were discovering La Roche-sur-Yon and the institution for the first time.

The students come from various partnerships with international universities:

  • Chang Jung Christian University (Taiwan)
  • Tohoku Gakuin University (Japan)
  • Sookmyung Women's University (Republic of Korea)
  • Ukrainian Catholic University (Ukraine)
  • University of Silesia (Poland)
  • Pazmany Péter Catholic University (Hungary)
  • Transilvanian University of Brasov (Romania)
  • Dunarea De Jos University of Galati (Romania)
  • University of Almeria (Spain)
  • Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Spain)
  • Saint Thomas University (Canada)

After visiting the ICES campus, the international students had the opportunity to get to know each other through various social events, such as a Welcome Breakfast featuring galettes des rois (king cakes), and a macaron-making workshop at L’Atelier Gourmand in the city center (see picture below).

They met their Buddies, ICES students who will guide them through the practical aspects of daily life in France. This initiative is run by the Globo association, whose role is to welcome and support international students and facilitate their integration with local students, through the organization of events (raclette party, karaoke sessions, the International week, etc.). The Buddies accompanied the international students to the bank to help them open a French bank account.

The International Relations Office presented students with all the administrative information they needed for their stay, and led a workshop on interculturality and the keys to understanding French culture.

Mr. Cyril PASQUIER from the Communication Department presented the key aspects of student life on campus, including the many student associations (sports, arts, culture and humanitarian) which would be delighted to welcome new members.

Finally, the international students met with their academic advisor, Mrs. Magali PAPIN, who helped them choose their courses and be placed in level-based groups for learning French as a Foreign Language (FLE).

We welcome them warmly!
